Cylinder and Piston
Cylinder Removal
Remove:
Cylinder Head (see Cylinder Head Removal)
Oil Pipe [A]
Chain Guide [B]
Cylinder Bolts [C]
Cylinder [D]
Cylinder Base Gasket
Piston Removal
Remove the cylinder block (see Cylinder Removal).
Place a piece of clean cloth under the piston and remove
the piston pin snap rings [A] from the outside of each pis-
ton.
CAUTION
Do not reuse snap rings, as removal weakens and
deforms them. They could fall out and score the
cylinder wall.
Using the piston pin puller assembly (special tool), re-
move the piston pins.

Piston Pin Puller Adapter,
14 [B]: 57001

Remove the piston.
Carefully spread the ring opening with your thumbs and
then push up on the opposite side of the ring [A] to remove
it.
Remove the 3-piece oil ring with your thumbs in the same
manner.
Cylinder, Piston Installation
NOTE
If a new piston or cylinder is used, check piston to cylin-
der clearance (see Piston/Cylinder Clearance), and use
new piston rings.
